The client brief was to make more use of the space to the rear of this beautiful old Cotswold property.
The area was dominated by an unused and rather tired looking swimming pool and presented
a host of odd levels with little usable space.
As the space flows out from the kitchen and is readily seen from numerous positions within the property, an attractive design that fitted the vernacular of the building was required.
The pool was infilled with arisings from the surrounding works and a block and beam construction placed above it prior to the laying of reclaimed Yorkstone. The existing free-standing wall was retained and ‘anchored’ to the scheme by the addition of new walls created with reclaimed Cotswold stone to ensure they blended in.
The planting scheme, when fully established, will bring softness and structure to the area.
