PRIVATE GARDEN CHELTENHAM

The client, who recently moved to live in the flat above his business, wanted to create a green space that would encourage wildlife into what was a bleak, uninviting area.
The garden had to be practical, enabling staff to move freely through it from the parking area to the office, as well as providing a private space for the client to use in the evenings.
The overall style of the new garden is naturalistic, achieved by woodland-esque planting that works well with the demands of the shaded environment. A path of dressed setts leads through the space and along to a staircase up to a mezzanine seating area at the rear of the offce building.
Millboard decking crosses over a wildlife pool with a trickling spring and rock outcrops, and leads to a further, secluded seating area beneath the mezzanine. The garden has become a small urban oasis for private use in the centre of Cheltenham, creating not only the inviting and wildlife-friendly space that the client was looking for but also a much-improved working environment for his staff.

The contractor has done an exceptional job with this project, achieving exactly what the client required. The cutting and dressing of the setts shows an immense amount of care and attention to detail, which is also in evidence in the construction of the pond, the placement of the large rocks, and the plant selection.”
